Algirdas Julien Greimas is one of the theorists in the field of narrative who presents a pattern in structuralism after Propp which is know as the action pattern. This pattern includes components where the fundamental structure of narrative and language is the same based on this theory. In such model, the actors create a plot within three contradictory pairs. Another component of this theory is the semantic square which is based on the contrast and contradictory characteristics. The present study investigates and analyses morphologically one of the narratives of Attar’s Ilāhī-Nāma based on the Griemas theory. The important point is that the general plan of story and manner of narrative and characterization of story heroes is subject to general framework and order. This narrative is consistent with the criteria of Griemas pattern. Also with the help of semantic square, the general structure of narrative with contrast elements can be analysed and investigated and the actors, i.e. brother-in-law, young man, merchant and ship inhabitants take a move from lust and evil desires to “no-evil” and as a result, they move from status of “no-lust” to chastity.
