Understanding the depth and richness of Hafiz's sonnets requires the use of modern theories; therefore, in the present study, a collection of satirical and poetic sonnets of Hafiz using the theory of "Halliday's Systemic Functional linguistics" that is widely used in the analysis of spoken, written, literary, and stylistic texts has been studied and analyzed. In these sonnets and based on the theory of evaluation, which is one of the three systems that constitute the interpersonal role, and in the micro system of "Attitude" that three sensory domains of "affect, judgment, and appreciation" can be projected, the highest frequency of adjectives are used in the domain of judgment, appreciation, and affect, respectively. This suggests that in these sonnets, words that express the emotions and the mental process of reactions have been used less frequently by Hafiz. On the contrary, he has made the most use of words that describe the evaluation of human behavior. On the one hand, the frequency of the adjectives used in non-descriptive roles is higher than the descriptive ones and it is due to its more magnification, influence and rhetoric. The results mentioned indicates that the application of the adjectives in Hafez's sonnets correspond to the "Interpersonal" function of "Halliday's Functional Grammer"; Therefore, referring to the precise frequency of the functions extracted from these sonnets, useful and valuable information are presented in the form of charts and graphs.
