The writing and creation of every literary work has a motivation and a reason that the writer or poet refers to in most cases, and sometimes it can be understood based on extratextual reasons. The attention to mention the authorship is so much that in most of the poems, a part of the introduction of the work is dedicated to it. This article has been done with a descriptive and analytical method and its purpose is to investigate the reason for the composition of Persian lyrical poems until the 8th century and it tries to show what motivations the poets had for composing their work and whether what the poet gave as the reason for the composition is always acceptable or an imaginary issue. And it is considered a literary source. The reason for writings can be divided into two categories: self-centered and other-centered. In the first type, the poet has a personal and individual benefit, such as perpetuating his good name, showing his ability and skill, or receiving a favor, and in the second type, the poet has written a poem at the request of others and in response to their requests. Sometimes, for some reasons, the poet did not mention the real motivation, and it can be understood in terms of currents of the period or goals such as competition and challenge with others.
