Because of their rich cultural-literary background and their avoiding repetition and boredom of redundancy that could also be a sign of grace, poets and mystics benefit from different themes to express their topics and their consciousness. One of these themes, which can cautiously be said to have its roots in the ancient Iranian culture, is using the chess terms. Its high frequency in usage and creating chess related themes, from the 6th to 9th centuries, a period in the stylistics which is concurrent with the Azerbaijani and Iraqi styles, paved the way for presenting the intricacies and delicacies of this game. The present paper aims at careful reviewing of the works of the great poets and mystics, using the correct analysis of the approach of this game and its complexities and delicacies. The results of this research show that the Azerbaijani style pays attention to the details and intricacies of this game more than that of the Iraqi one. These intricacies might be unprecedented during the history of literature. Meanwhile, in this respect Mowlavi and Khaghani also stand head and shoulders above the rest of the poets and mystics.
