All linguistic references rely upon narration to convey their messages to the reader in the best way possible. One of the significant issues in narratology is the examination of character; therefore, in this article different approaches to character—the structuralist approach in particular-- will be elucidated. The next step is the examination of characters in epic and lyric stories of <em>Shāhnāmi</em> to propose a new paradigm based on their actions. The new paradigm will be used to explain for the structures that underlie the narratives. Three types of character can be found in narrative and war-centered epic stories: the helper, the helped, and the opponent. The archetypal paradigm of such characterization is derived from the myth of genesis. The one that is helped is Ūrmazd, the opponent is Ahrīman and the helper refers to creatures in general and human beings in particular. Narrative and lyric stories center around four characters: the lover, the beloved (the helped), the helper and the opponent and their archetypal paradigm is that of the myth of mentoring.  The beloved stands for God, the lover for man, the helper for the prophet and the opponent for Satan. <br /><strong>Key words:</strong> Epic, Story, Narrative, Structure, Character <br />  <br />  روایت از شاخص‌های برجسته و از عناصر بسیار مهم در داستان، حماسه، اسطوره و بنیاد هرگونه جمله خبری است. تمامی دلالت‌های زبانی برای این‌که بتوانند به بهترین صورت پیام را از فرستنده به خواننده برسانند ازروایت استفاده می‌کنند. یکی از مسائل قابل مطالعه در روایت شناسی بررسی شخصیت است؛ به همین منظور در این مقاله ابتدا دیدگاه‌های مختلف درباره شخصیت به خصوص دیدگاه ساختارگرایان بیان، سپس به بررسی شخصیت در داستان‌های حماسی و غنایی شاهنامه پرداخته می‌شود و بر اساس کنش‌های شخصیت‌ها، الگویی تازه برای بررسی این داستان‌ها ارائه می‌گردد؛ در ادامه نیز نمونه ازلی‌ای که این ساختارها بر اساس آن ساخته شده‌اند، مطرح می‌شود. <br />در داستان‌های روایی حماسی و مبتنی بر جنگ بر اساس کنش شخصیت‌ها، سه شخصیت حضور دارد: یاری‌شونده، یاری‌کننده و مخالف. سرنمون این ساختار شخصیت نیز برگرفته از «اسطوره آفرینش» است. شخصیت یاری‌شونده برابر با اهورامزدا، مخالف با اهریمن و یاری‌کننده معادل موجودات و به خصوص انسان است. داستان‌های روایی غنایی نیز مبتنی بر چهار شخصیت عاشق، معشوق، یاری‌کننده و مخالف‌اند و سرنمون آنها داستان «هدایت» است. معشوق با خداوند، عاشق با انسان، یاری‌گر با پیامبر و مخالف با شیطان همخوانی دارد https://jba.shirazu.ac.ir/article_2410_07903369e7ae8e110cfa294e04a6d965.pdf
