It may also lead to a proper verdict as to the originality of those texts whose authorship are yet in question. Despite a remarkable body of scholarship on the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyar, debate over the originality and even the number of Khayyam’s couplets are still unresolved. In this article, as a result, we attempt to study and compare the thematic structures of two sets of twenty couplets, one original and the other acribed to Khayyam, by way of employing an analyitic-statistical and linguistic methodology. Our assessment of the texts indicates that Khayyam’s admittedly original work is more intelligible and strucutally simple whereas the works ascribed to the poet are rather intricate and prone to marked structures. From this vantage point, and by virtue of their varying structures, we conclude that the category of couplets ascribed to Khayyam are definitely not his. Key Words: Khayyam, authentic Rubaiyat, ascribed Rubaiyat, functional linguistics, thematic structure. بررسی اصالت متون مختلف ادب فارسی با استفاده از الگوهای علمی و چارچوب‌های مشخص، می‌تواند از طرفی، معیاری واحد برای داوری دربارة اصالت این متون به دست دهد، و از طرف دیگر، بسیاری از این متون را که هنوز اصالتشان مورد تردید است از بلاتکلیفی خارج کند. رباعیات خیام از جملة آثاری است که علی‌رغم پژوهش‌های فراوانی که دربارة آن انجام شده است، هنوز بر سر آن اختلاف بسیاری وجود دارد و تعداد رباعیات اصیل این شاعر هم‌چنان نامشخص است. از این رو، در مقالة حاضر کوشیدیم تا با به‌کارگیری الگویی زبان‌شناختی، و با استفاده از روشی توصیفی-تحلیلی و آماری به بررسی و مقایسة 20 رباعی اصیل و 20 رباعی منسوب به خیام از منظر ساخت موضوعی بپردازیم، و پس از تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها دریافتیم که ویژگی رباعیات اصیل خیام سادگی بیش‌تر و استفادة کم‌تر از ساخت‌های پیچیده است، در حالی که رباعیات منسوب گرایش بیش‌تری به پیچیده‌گویی و استفاده از ساخت‌های نشان‌دار دارند. بدین ترتیب، با توجه به تفاوت قابل توجه دو پیکره از منظر ساخت موضوعی، به این نتیجه رسیدیم که رباعیات منسوبی که در مقالة حاضر بررسی شده‌اند، دست کم از این منظر، متعلق به خیام نیستند.
