Sati-although abandoned custom- was an old and adjunct custom of Hinduism which had been used for many years as a religious duty.
This crucial and inhumane tradition -although with current standards- leads widow to burn herself with her husband to live with him again –base on transmigration- or come back to life again with a masculine body. This tradition is based on three points: believe on fire, love for husband and transmigration.
Researches in this essay not only attempted to study the case history of this tradition and the way of its performance but also study its repercussion in Persian lovely poems which have not been studied before.
This research shows, some collected poems which were regarded as satinamehs are not satinameh and some collected poems are ignored which should be regarded as satinameh based on the characteristics of this old Hinduism tradition.
Key words: India, Hinduism, Hindu woman, sati, romantic collected poems, satinameh.
