Art in modern time is an occurrence that began with incredulity about the traditional conventions of Western culture and civilization, as well as the complexity and flexibility of the contemporary world. This phenomenon is in contradiction with the previous laws and tries to help the mastery of man over his personal and social life as well as his psychological and spiritual variety. One of the manifestations of modern art is the school of expressionism, which is an artistic and literary movement in the early twentieth century. The school is based on self-absorption, diversion, and rebellion against traditional conventions. Due to its transnational nature and its attention to the general public, it was able to accepted by artists and thinker. Nima Yoshij, a contemporary Iranian poet composed poems that were a clear example of anti-tradition. He is considered the founder of modern Iranian poetry due to his opposition to ancient traditions and rules, as well as the design of semantic possibilities and new structural arrangements in poetry. In this article, we examine the poem "O People" by Nima yooshij with one of the famous expressionist paintings called "Scream", by the Norwegian Edward Munch, in a qualitative and analytical-comparative manner. The purpose of this article is to analyze the expressionist and common components in two works to show that the poem "O People" is not only a modern poem, but also has many expressionist hints.
