The present study aims at investigating to study the metaphors used linguistically in the poems of Shamloo and Bahar as contemporary poets, one with blank verse and the other with traditional poetry. The data analysis have been done based on the Cognitive approach and in particular the Fauconnier and Turner's Conceptual Blending Theory (henceforth CBT model)(1994,1998,2002). The purpose of this theory is to provide a general cognitive pattern for making meaning and the emergence of new terms. In the, it is referred to metaphor not only in the two domains of source and target, but also in the third domain in the emergence of mental conceptualization of the audience, which is derived from the mapping of the two domains of source and target. The nature of this qualitative research is descriptive-analytic. due to the limitation of paper volume, the authors have randomly examined some of the used metaphors in the poems of Shamloo and Bahar using CBT model. The results show that the metaphors and compounds used in this poetry collection have created new spaces using the blending, composition and completion method. In the other words, besides the two domains of source and target, there is another new space. In the way, Shamloo and Bahar in their poems have transcended the term of Lakoff and Johnson's Conceptual Metaphor Theory (henceforth CMT model) (1980) and they have used the CBT model in their poems. findings have also shown that the metaphors used in these poems are of double-scope network type.
