Abstract
Reflecting on the rhetorical structure and geometry of Manuchehri's imagery reveals distinct differences between his aesthetic views with those of the poets of Khorasani style showing him as a literary genius unique in his descriptive poems on nature. This paper studies literary techniques and rhetorical devices in 500 lines of poetry by six prominent poets of Khorasani style: Rudaki, Ferdowsi Onsori, Farrokhi, Manuchehri and Naser Khosrow. It is argued that poets of this style are concerned with the use of individual techniques and creation of simple and far-reached imagery while, Manuchehri is unique in terms of his use of combined rhetorical devices creating poetic images. In this sense, he seems to be the vanguard of Azerbaijani, Iraqi and even Indian style poets.
