The correction of literary and historical manuscripts is a valuable academic pursuit throughout the last hundred years, helping the revival of many classics written in verse or prose. As a result, scientific, literary, historical and religious texts have been rendered accessible to those interested in Iran’s history, literature, and culture. Ẕolqarnayn History, by Khāvarī Shīrāzī, is a historical text and a first-hand source dating back to the time of Fathali Shah Qajar. Many of the historical and social events of that period are recorded in the book. It has been published in two volumes; Nāsīr Afshārfar has corrected the manuscript and has added an introduction to it. The two thousand lines that appear in the book under different subjects have given it particular significance. In this article, we, first, investigate the defects in the introduction and marginal notes, then; we attend to the criticism of all the corrections made to the two thousand lines in terms of content, reading, writing and techniques of correction.
Keywords: The History of Ẕolqarnayn, correction, content, reading, writing.
