Quatrain is one of the most important and oldest forms of Persian poetry. Quatrain has a special position in classical poetry which has attracted great poets such as Khayyam. This famous Persian poetry form is popular among people in different regions and ethnic groups due to its various utilities and functions in rituals and mourning ceremonies. The local minstrels play and sing quatrain with instruments and songs. Folk quatrains have features that distinguish them from their classical type. Quatrain in the east of Iran is being recognized with the names of "Ravaei," "Chaharbeiti," "Gharibi," "Bakharzi," "Ardeh Khani," "Falak Khani," "Mourigi," "Ardeh," "Rabbaei." In the north of Iran, with the titles "Robaei Khaon" and "Amiri," in the south "Robahi," Darbazi "and" Khayyam Khani " quatrain is known. The most common use of quatrains is in Greater Khorasan. This study introduces this important form of Persian poetry among the people for the first time.
